View from the Cascade Terrace, Chiswick by George Lambert

Acquisition at auction of a painting by George Lambert (1700/10 - 1765) entitled View from the Cascade, Chiswick. This shows the gardens at Chiswick House towards the end of the last phase of their remodelling (1733-1750). It is thought the figures in the foreground were probably painted by William Hogarth.
