Dacre Beasts

Acquisition of the Dacre Beasts, a set of four late medieval heraldic wood carvings representing a bull, a ram, a Gryphon and a crowned salmon, They were commissioned for the Great Hall at Naworth Castle by Thomas, Lord Dacre and his wife, Elisabeth de Greystoke in the early 16th century, at which time the Dacres were one of the most powerful families in northern England.
