Howard and Jane Ricketts Photographic Collection

Acquisition of Britain's finest private collection of photographs collected by Mr and Mrs Howard Ricketts. It is particularly noted for its strengths in British 19th century photography in the first 50 years after its invention. The range of subject matter is very wide. It includes such important series as John Thompson's 'Street Life in London' series, P H Emerson's Life and landscape in the Norfolk Broads and a over 100 large-scale plates taken by Henry Dixon and others on behalf of the Society of Photographic Relics of Old London.
