Leman Silk Designs

Acquisition of a volume of 97 silk designs, dating from 1706-1716, the earliest silk designs known to exist. There are mainly by James Leman, a Spitalifields master weaver and leading designer of silks of Huguenot descent who rose to prominence in the Weavers Company. Of supreme importance in the history of textile design.
