Portrait of Sir Joseph Banks by Benjamin West

Acquisition of portrait of Sir Joseph Banks by the American artist Benjamin West (1738-1820). It was completed in 1772 and depicts the great naturalist explorer and scientist proudly displaying his treasures after the return of Captain Cook's Endeavour from the South Seas.
