Whitehouse Railway Photographic Collection

Acquisition of the collection of railway-related photographs: 14,000 negatives, 4600 prints, the work of at least 11 photographers, collected by the late Patrick Whitehouse of Millbrook House Publications. Divided as follows: Treacy Collection: 12,000 glass and film negatives, mainly of steam in the Midlands and North. Bishop Eric Treacy was one of the leading railway photographers of the 1930s to 1970s. His work embodies the best in railway photography during the Nationalisation period. Millbrook House Collection: Images by other photographers, including 683 images by W. L. Good of steam in the Birmingham area, and 78 glass plate negatives by E. R. Wethersett of less well-documented railway vehicles.
