Acquisition of the Cotehele Annunciation Panels

The Cotehele Annunciation Panels are a pair of late 15th century painted panels (oil on oak), which are a rare example of medieval art with connections to Westminster Abbey and to the Abbot of Westminster circa 1498-1500. The panels would have originally formed the wings or doors of an alterpiece, probably commissioned by Abbot Fascet for his private chapel in the Abbey. They are rare survivals of the destruction of religious art during the English Reformation.
